| What We Believe
We believe that each child, capable and unique, will bring his/her special strengths and interests to any situation. Therefore, Excel Discovery Center is designed to encourage, support, and respond to each child.
We believe that parents are the child's first teachers. Parents and teachers create a powerful team allowing children to learn most successfully. Excel Discovery Center strives to provide care that is warm, nurturing, supportive, and responsive to each child's needs and interests.
We believe that it is important to help each child become a curious, independent learner. Excel Discovery Center provides an environment in which children can make choices. Children are given opportunities to experience, discover, and explore to enrich the learning process using a variety of the multiple intelligences.
We believe that effective discipline will enhance a child’s self-esteem and self-control as he/she is taught problem solving skills. Effective strategies include positive reinforcement, choices, and redirection. Teachers use guidance as a means to teach social skills, cooperation, and conflict resolution.
We believe in a curriculum developed through observation, evaluation, and creative planning. Decisions are based on the integration of physical, cognitive, social/emotional, and language needs of each child. We work to educate the whole child.
